“We miss you already”

My heart aches for Aunty Norma, Uncle Sam and their respective families.

While it has been quite a few years since I had seen John, I have been thinking about childhood memories shared with him.

The memories which have come to my mind over the past week, have been of the day John was in his bedroom concocting another science experiment.

John coerced me into going in to his bedroom informing me “you will love this!”. So naively in I went, only to be locked in the room with a stink bomb being set off and John laughing hysterically on the outside!

I have also thought about the cracker night when my Father, Uncle Sam, all the boys and myself (only girl) went to the local park to let off our crackers.

What a fantastic memory it is. We were all so young and care free. Although on our return home, I remember our Mothers (Norma & Irene) not being too happy with all the burn marks on our clothing.

While their is now a void in everyone`s life with John no longer being with us, I know there is another star in the sky at night, looking down on all of us.

My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I first met John in 1978 down at Glendale slot car track. I used to go down there every Firday for some time before I got serious about racing.
When I did, I brought a chassis from the track not knowing to much about it or were it come from. I was told that it was made by somebody that raced every Sunday night at the track. So I headed of down there one Sunday night to see what went on. Not long after I arrived John come over to me and intrduced himself, he was told that I had brought his masterpeice and invited me to race with them on  Sunday nights. John was the orgoniser of the races at Glendale.
After that we had many years ahead competing against each other and traverling all over the place enjoying each others company. Roy Sculley, Rodney Mcguiness, John and myself  spent nearley every second Sunday in Sydney for years racing and then backed it up by racing the same night at Glendale.
He will be sadley missed.
