Paul “PJ” GORDON

Paul “PJ” GORDON

Paul ‘PJ’ Gordon aka. DJ Devon Licker

Born Dubbo, 16 May 1984, Entered Dreaming, 7 April 2026

Dearly loved son of Alice & Doug Gordon and the late Francis Johnston.

A devoted and loving father to Tyra, Montana, Analise, Brooklyn, Savannah, Tae-Lani, Celia-Rose, PJ and LaLa and grandfather to Stormy.

Cherished brother of Monique, April, Alychia and Amberlilly.

Adored uncle to Louie and Aria.

Deeply loved by his aunties, uncles, cousins, friends, and the wider community.

PJ will be remembered for his infectious humour and his natural gift for making others laugh. A true songman and entertainer, he shared his voice and spirit in ways that brought people together. He was a devoted and loving father, young at heart with a cheeky, playful spirit that drew people to him. PJ had a deep love for everyone around him and was, in turn, deeply loved by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in his children, the joy, music, laughter, and love he so generously gave to all.

PJ used to play poker with APL Newcastle. He was actually quite a good player (sometimes), but he’d sometimes play ridiculous cards that should have been thrown in before the hand even began. When he won or knocked someone out of the game, he’d always have something cheeky to say or let out a little cackle. He was completely unbothered by their misfortune. Then one night, he met his match—someone who played just like him, making equally ridiculous calls. She had these short, stumpy, chubby little fingers, and when she knocked him out of the game, he gave her the nickname “Butterscotch Finger Fingers.” It’s what we all came to call her, and I don’t think any of us ever actually knew her real name. I will miss PJ’s humour, his humility, and his friendship. When I first introduced him to my mum, he asked her if any man had ever serenaded her. She said no, so he picked up a guitar and sang to her. After that, whenever PJ and my mum crossed paths, he would sing to her. It was a small gesture, but one she absolutely loved. I just wanted to share these stories with you, Alice, to show you how deeply your son was loved by so many people. I always thought he was proper womba, but I loved him as did everyone else. He’d show up at 2 or 3 in the morning and drive me insane because he wouldn’t stay—he’d always want to be dropped back at Kerry’s or Dave’s. Thank you, Alice, for sharing your son with us—for giving us the gift that only PJ was. A true larrikin who loved people, entertained us all, and was a genuine friend.

Tribute – Tamworth High School On behalf of the staff and students at Tamworth High School, we extend our heartfelt condolences to PJ and his family. Today, we honour and remember a life that made a profound and lasting impact on our school community. As our Aboriginal Education Officer, you were a proud and powerful advocate for Aboriginal students, culture, and connection. You brought strength, guidance, and a deep sense of belonging to so many within our school. Your commitment to fostering Aboriginal connections, sharing culture, and supporting students to walk proudly in their identity has left an enduring legacy. You created a space where students felt seen, heard, and valued—where culture was celebrated and respected every day. Through your kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication, you touched the lives of students, staff, and families alike. The impact of your work will continue to be felt in the confidence of our students, in the strength of their cultural pride, and in the unity you helped build across our school. You will always be a cherished and respected member of the Tamworth High School community, and you will be deeply missed. Our thoughts, respect, and deepest sympathies are with PJ and the entire family during this incredibly difficult time.
