New South Wales Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione has invited the public to attend the funeral of a senior officer who was killed last week while responding to a neighbourhood dispute in Sydney`s north-west.

Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson was stabbed during a two hour stand-off at Oakville last Thursday.

The 45-year-old father of three will be farewelled with a funeral at St Patrick`s Cathedral in Parramatta at 2:00pm (AEDT) Wednesday 12/th December 2012.

Commissioner Scipione says Detective Inspector Anderson was one of the state`s finest officers.

“From our perspective he was a true hero and I would expect that many in New South Wales would want to come and pay honour and certainly see him off. Look, we`ve had a tremendous outpouring from community,” he said.
