FINGLETON, Walter (Wally) Patrick Joseph

Reverend Father Walter (Wally) Patrick Joseph FINGLETON SM.

Died in Townsville on April 15, 2012, aged 97.

Wally was the son of James and Belinda, brother of Les, Kitty, Jack, Glen (all deceased) and Linda.

A priest of the Society of Mary (Marist Fathers) for 68 years, Wally worked
as a missionary in Bougainville and the Shortland Islands for 26 years, then in parish ministry in many parishes, particularly in the Canberra-Goulburn Diocese.

Wally was greatly loved by his family, friends and Confreres and wonderfully cared for by Mary Connor for over 30 years.

Always a gentleman, he loved to share a story and had a deep and trusting faith.

Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for REVEREND FATHER WALTER FINGLETON SM will be offered in Holy Name of Mary Church, Villa Maria, Mary Street, Hunters Hill on Monday (April 23, 2012), commencing at 1.30 p.m.

Interment will take place in the Marist Fathers Cemetery within the grounds of Villa Maria, 1 Mary Street, Hunters Hill.
