below is part of the letter read out by Tony Tamplin

Mr Bob Daley

LAMBTON NSW 2299

Dear Bob and family,

On behalf of DonateLife Queensland and my colleagues involved in transplantation, I would

like to extend my deepest sympathy to you on the sudden and tragic loss of your sister,

Debra. I would also like to thank you for having the courage to think of others at such a sad

and difficult time in your life by agreeing to donation. It is without question that due to

Debra’s gift others have been given the opportunity for an improved quality of life and

indeed life itself.

It is my hope that this brief information about the recipients may provide you with some

comfort. Due to legal restrictions, I cannot give details about the recipients, but I can tell

you that Debra has already been able to help four people through her donation. Two young

men have each received a kidney transplant, a gentleman has received a liver transplant and

a young lady has received a lung transplant. At this early stage all of the recipients are

recovering well following their transplants.

As you are aware, Debra was also able to donate eye tissue and over the next week or so

two people will receive the gift of sight due to this gift. She was also able to donate heart

valves and bone tissue which over time will benefit a number of people.

In the next few weeks our Donor Family Support Coordinator, Diane Murphy will contact you

on the telephone to introduce herself and explain the support services that are available to

you and your family during this difficult time.

Diane, who is a highly experienced counsellor, is available to you now and at any time in the

future for bereavement counselling, advice and support.

I have enclosed two booklets for you in the folder. “In Reflection” has been especially

written for families who have been involved in donation. “Coping with Grief” has been

written for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. You may find them of some

help. I will write to you again in about six week`s time with some information regarding the

services that we offer to donor families.

Again, I would like to offer my most sincere sympathy. If I can be of further assistance, or if

you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Most sincerely,

Cheryl …………….
