Aged 91 Years
The Australian country music legend died in hospital in Gin Gin near Bundaberg on New Year’s Day 2025.
Mr Morgan was born on February 11, 1933 in Wondai, a regional town in South Burnett Region of Queensland.
Known for his vaudeville style of country music and signature smile, Mr Morgan was first discovered on Australia’s Amateur Hour after entering the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1952.
Affectionately known as the “Sheik of Scrubby Creek”, the musician’s career spanned more than seven decades, contributing a verse to the Gordon Parson song, A Pub with No Beer, made famous by Slim Dusty, and releasing more than 20 albums.
Chad was inducted into the Tamworth Hands of Fame in 1979 and Role of Renown in 1987.
