My Auntie Cherylyn …
Cheryl was never your standard auntie. She had the amazing capacity to make everyone feel special and loved when they were with her. It was a gift she had – to walk into a room and suddenly there was laughter, hugs, joking and the coffee jug put on. I always felt at home with her – I could tell her anything without fear of judgement; laugh with her, share her fears, paint with her, go camping, borrow her clothes – anything you’d do with a cool older sister.
Thanks for the laughs……
will miss you always xo

OUR CHERYLYN
On
My sister, our special Cherylyn Dawn
Her blue eyes and blonde hair made her as cute as could be
Her parents said she was a real chatterbox, when she was only three
They said she could talk the leg off a table and tell you a tale
That would leave you wondering, how did she remember all that detail
On a dairy farm outside of Wingham, in a little place called Marlee
Times were tough and we didn’t have a lot
Like the pushbike without a brake, your foot on the wheel the only way to stop
But we made the most of what we had and never forgot
The fun times we had together, often made up on the spot
Her brothers she said, were always a tease
Across the flat she would chase them, but they always managed to escaped with ease
If she had caught them, she would have taught them a thing or too
And remind them why not to pick on your sister or start to argue
Our one teacher primary school was called Millingarie
We had a total of 15 kids in all, with some classes a total of only three
We’d walk to school each day the 2 kilometres there and back
Often taking a short cut on a self made side- track
And how could we ever forget that flavoured milk the Government thought we should daily drink
Left out in the sun till recess, fit only to throw down the sink
At school she loved her art and her sport too
And took out the under 13 athletics champion, and of ribbons she had quite a few
Her school friends affectionately gave her nick- names like called Tiny, Mountain or Mum
To them she was a very special and loyal school chum
When she finished high school it was to nursing she was drawn
At
Further study gave her a nursing degree
Followed by a certificate in Astoma-theraphy
She carried out her work with much dedication and pride
Admired by her fellow workers, who often on her relied
Peter and Cherylyn were married on
Along came Ashley James, and 7 years later Serannah a little ray of sunshine
Through her love and guidance they both did achieve
Of a prouder mum you could not possibly conceive
A couple of weeks ago the birth of her first grandson, little Tanner
Made her one proud happy and delighted Nanna
She loved her craft and her garden too
She would spend hours creating a special piece just for you
In her garden she was always planning or planting something new
You never knew what next she was going to do
On the computer she was quite a whiz
Creating DVD’s and albums of the family, including all the kids
Camping or caravanning was their favourite family holiday
Exploring the outback, the
She was my only sister, but she was more than that to me
A friend and a confidant, she would often be
Whenever I felt like a whinge or just a chat about the family
We would catch up, and she would listen, over a cup of coffee
She bravely fought with courage this insidious disease
That’s taken her life and left us all here to grieve
But she would not want us to dwell on that fact
So let us remember her with a smile when we look back
We celebrated her 50th early and on that special day
She helped us plant a Little Gem Magnolia to remember her,
so together we all say
What a pleasure it has been to know
Our Cherylyn, a gem of a girl we all love so
